Marquette Poll Shows Governor's Race In Dead Heat, Baldwin Ahead Of Vukmir

The race for governor is in a dead heat, according to the latest Marquette Law School poll , out Wednesday. Incumbent Scott Walker leads Democratic challenger Tony Evers, 47 percent to 46 percent among likely voters – with less than a month to go until the election. The survey indicates independents played a role in the tight race. In the previous survey from two weeks ago, Evers held a 5 percent lead over Walker. Poll Director Charles Franklin says this time, Evers saw that edge vanish. Walker now leads by one percent among likely voters, well within the margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 percentage points. “This time it’s essentially a tossup, 47 for Walker, 46 for Evers and you’ll notice it’s in the direction of the shift of the partisan makeup of the poll.” The statewide poll was conducted last Wednesday through Sunday.
